Seismic fragility calculations for the fuel handling building as a result of dry cask operations

Objective:

To update seismic fragilities of a Fuel Handling Building used in a plant-wide Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA). The update was required as a result of building’s configuration change associated with dry cask operations and installations inside the structure.

Solution:

As a result of dry cask operations inside the Fuel Handling Building (FHB) various modifications and additions were implemented inside the FHB of the plant. ENOVA was tasked to update the seismic fragilities associated with these changes. This project involved determination of updated seismic fragilities associated with these changes and their impact on existing plant Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) analysis and results.
